This past weekend, I had the luxury of staying at the new Hotel Alessandra in Downtown Houston. While doing some light research, I found out that this hotel is part of the Valencia Group. This instantly brought back good memories because I remember having a wonderful time at Hotel Valencia Riverwalk, one of their hotels in San Antonio. To be honest, I don’t remember much about that trip because it was during my early teens – but what I do remember was my experience at the hotel! The huge mirrors, the cozy furry throws, and the citrus-scented toiletries. I liked it SO much, I even found the company online and ordered more for use at home.
So naturally, I was excited to explore this hotel.
The first thing I noticed when I walked in was the amount of natural sunlight that came into the room and the decors such as the light fixtures and the beautiful Nespresso machine that made coffee with actual froth!
Next, was the huge mirror room divider that separated the bathroom from the sleeping area. Initially, I wasn’t sure how I felt about having such an open “floor plan”, but it grew on to me quickly. It really opened up the room and if you wanted your privacy, you can slide it back to have a wall of mirror, which by the way is wonderful for when getting ready!
As for the sleeping area, I love that there are outlets built into the night stands so you don’t have to reach far for your phone or if you feel like blow-drying your hair while laying in bed ( Yes, I realize I sound like a bum!)
Like I mentioned earlier, one of the key things I love about Valencia Group Hotels is their attention to details. Such as, the shower stool (useful for when shaving legs and for the aesthetics, of course!). But look at the toiletries! With that packaging and scents like “Bergamot & Tea Leaf” it’s like a mini spa in the comforts of your own room!
For those who want to cool down, the pool on the 5th floor was a hidden gem! I don’t know how it is on a regular basis but when I went, I had the pool all to myself! They also have a gym facing the pool. And speaking of amenities, they do provide free wi-fi for guests staying at the hotel.
Inside the hotel itself, there is Bar Bardot & Lounge and Lucienne. Bar Bardot serves handcrafted cocktails and light bites whereas Lucienne is a Modern European Fine Dining restauraunt, popular for their 4 or 6- course meals at a set price.
While I did not get a chance to try Lucienne, I did check out Bar Bardot and was quite impressed. Instead of just getting one dish. I basically ordered a variety of the “small bites” options – including Crispy Fried Frog Legs and Lobster Fondue with Grueyere and Parmesan. Yum!
There are also plenty of dining options surrounding the hotel and within walking distance such as Andalucia Tapas Restaurant & Bar and III Forks Prime Steakhouse.
What to Do Nearby
Within walking distance is Green Street, House of Blues, Pete’s Dueling Piano Bar, Discovery Green, and much more!
Full Disclosure : A Huge Thank You to Hotel Alessandra, Studio Communications, and Carnegie Home! I won the staycation from a raffle I entered at a Carnegie Home x Studio Communications Event. Neither sponsored nor paid.
