I visited New Orleans for the FIRST time this past weekend so it was quite jam-packed because I wanted to do and see everything. As expected, I couldn’t because there is just too much to see and do, I will have to come back for another visit soon! However, for those who have already visited or are planning to soon, I’ve compiled a list of to-do’s that hopefully serves you well!
Why 17 you ask? Because New Orleans was founded by the French in the 1700’s and thought that would be a great way to remember a tad bit of their history!
1.Ride a bike down Magazine Street and explore the area ( or all over town if possible!)
Eclair, Macarons, and Parisian Tea at Sucré
4.Pick up food at Vincent’s Italian Restaurant and head on over to Audubon Park at Sunset. (Highly Recommend the Calamari Bordelaise Pasta)
5. Listen to Tanya Hwang perform on Royal Street
Left : Turkey and the Wolf’s Collard Melt Green // Slow-cooked Collards, Swiss Cheese, Pickled Cherry, Pepper Dressing, Cole Slaw, on Rye Bread. Right: Cochon Butcher’s Gambino // House Meats and Herb Vinaigrette on Ciabatta
7.Grab Cafe au Lait & Beignets at Morning Call and stroll around City Park
9. Beignets and Cafe Au Lait at Cafe du Monde ( *go late at night to avoid lines)
10.Enjoy a drink at The Sazerac Bar inside the Roosevelt (By the way, Sazerac is the official cocktail of New Orleans)
Ramos Gin Fizz // Hayman’s Old Tom Gin, Fresh Citrus Cream, Egg Whites, Sugar, Orange Flower Soda, and Soda Water. *One of my new favorite cocktails!
11.Order Pizza at Domenica Restaurant (tasty and doesn’t feel heavy!)
Butternut Squash Pizza // Mascarpone, Date & Pecan Pesto
12.Listen to live music and enjoy a drink at Hotel Monteleone’s Carousel Bar & Lounge (the carousel actually spins!)
13. Eat Boudin and Cracklins
14.Grab a drink at Lafitte’s Blacksmith Shop Bar– It is “built between 1722 and 1732 by Nicolas Touze, is reputed to be the oldest structure used as a bar in the United States.”
15.Try CC’s Coffee House – OBSESSED with their Mochassippi.
17. Visit Jackson Square
